How to find us

The main entrance to Gordon Castle Walled Garden is situated at the western end of the village of Fochabers on the A96, approximately nine miles east of Elgin and twelve miles west of Keith. From Perth, take the north bound A9 to Aviemore, then follow A95, A941 and A96 to Fochabers. Alternatively, follow the map below.

Gordon Castle Estate is conveniently situated for access from Aberdeen, Inverness, Perth and beyond.

From the West and Elgin


Follow the A96 east towards Aberdeen. After the bridge over the River Spey, just beyond Baxters, take the third exit (B9104) off the roundabout, which is the local road to Fochabers. After a short distance turn left by the War Memorial and continue through the stone archway.

From the East and Aberdeen


Take the A96 west towards Elgin. After Keith stay on the A96. Go straight on at the first roundabout signposted to Fochabers. Continue down the hill and leave at the next roundabout, sharp first left exit (B9104) onto the local road to Fochabers. Go through the village and turn right by the War Memorial and continue through the stone archway.

From the South


Take the A9 north from Perth and turn right onto the A95 just north of Aviemore. Follow the A95 to Craigellachie and then onto Rothes. At the roundabout at the north end of the village take the B9015 signposted Mosstodloch and Fochabers. Continue on this road until you join the A96 at a roundabout. By Train

Moray is served by the Inverness to Aberdeen mainline currently operated by Scotrail. There are town centre railway stations at Nairn, Forres, Elgin and Keith. Connections to the Central Belt and onward to England can be made at both Inverness and Aberdeen stations. Inverness station also offers services to the far north of Scotland. The mainline between Inverness and Perth has stations at Carrbridge and Aviemore which offer access to the Cairngorms region and an alternative route into Speyside. The Caledonian Sleeper operated daily into Inverness from London Euston. Find tickets here via Trainline. 

By Bus


Local bus services in Moray are operated by Stagecoach and most services radiate out of Elgin Bus Station. Stagecoach and Megabus operate frequent limited-stop services to Aberdeen and Inverness including airport stops.

By Air

Inverness Airport is adjacent to the A96, forty four miles from Gordon Castle. Aberdeen Airport is fifty seven miles away, also just off the A96. Both airports have connections to mainline railway stations. There are more flight options at Aberdeen for both national and international routes, including daily flights to and from London, Bristol, Birmingham and Southampton, as well as international destinations such as Amsterdam, Dublin, Esbjerg, Paris and Stavanger. Many attractive low cost air fares are available from a number of airlines at both airports as well as private plane facilities.
